What was the required passmark?

| ah..so nice of you to ask. I asked that question about a month ago and still have yet to receive a response. Well my friend, I will tell you. I and a friend of mine took the exam and the pass mark was 825 on a 300 to 100 point scale. As best I can tell it works about like you are on a 700 point scale and you need a 75% to pass. A 525/700 is 75%. You automatically get 300 points when starting the exam (that is why they say the required score is 825). I and a friend of mine collectively took the exam 3 times and each time there were 62 questions and the passing score was 825 (which again, = 75%). I studied for a week and failed it the first time, then I took it a few days later and passed it. The key is knowing what is on the exam. My advice, wait for the Cisco Press book because the Sybex book will sink you! | |

| Yes, I am waiting for the Cisco Press book.
It's just frustrating when the new exams are released months before the new books.

| Yea, I cannot beleive the lack of info on the CCDA but I guess its not nearly as popular of an exam as CCNA etc. I also cant believe how much the sybex book stinks! Anyway, I am just glad its over. | |

| If its the CCDA 640 861 that your wanting the cisco book for, I've just ordered it off Amazon. I've been given a date anytime between the 20/10/03 and 05/12/03. I ideally wanted to start study the CCDA alongside the RCDD aiming to complete both April, however I think looking at the delivery date if its closer to 05/12/03 I wont be completing the CCDA in April. I've been on a few online training providers such as http://www.it-training.com, but even now 6mths later the CCDA on offer on their site is 640 441. When I spoke to them they say their note updating it because their not an official provider and its too expensive to develop it. I also found another provider but again with the old syllabus, apparently their not updating it because theres not been enough interest, they update courses according to popularity and the CCDA is not popular, however I can buy the old version at a reduced price and tailor it to my needs.
Looks like I'm studying the CCDA via sybex and cisco press and practising with testkings etc.
Its so frustrating, if your employer is paying you can go on the bootcamps, if your doing it yourself theres no materials.

| I said I'd purchased the book for the 640 861 off Amazon. It stated the other day it was due to be published October 2003, so thought I'd better order it straight away.
Just received email of Amazon telling me it is now not going to be published until mid to late November. This is ridiculous the new syllabus was March, but wheres the materials?
I wish boot camps wasn't so expensive!

| Resellers suck at getting books out in time, if you really want the book in any decent time, you have to go to ciscopress.com and pay the extra $10, but you get it in 3 days ground. So there is a trade off, obviously.
I am going to use this book + sybex + online material to pass the test. Although from what it seems Sybex isn't going to do me just good.
Hope that was at least semi-informative.
Happy studying. | |

| if a question has multiple answers, does the test specify how many to select? or are you totally on your own? | |
| ahuebel2 2003-10-30, 2:08 pm |
| Yea typically they will say choose 2 or choose 3. In fact I dont remember any that said simply choose all that apply. |
