Any experience with Kaplan Self Test?

| I was doing some looking around for some CCDA study aids and came across Kaplan's Self Test software. What is interesting is that Cisco is recommending them. Has anyone had any experience with them?
Thanks! | |

| I just purcahed a exam prep from them last week for the CCDA, as I am starting to get ready for the exam. As far as I can see it seems to be fairly decent. There are questions on IP6 which is a good thing. I might look in to BOSON as well, have not done that yet. I have the Sybex stuff that came with the book, and some older Cisco Press exam sim.

| I have used these products for all of my CCNP tests. It simulates the exam fairly well, and helps me to identify areas that require additional study. As you mentioned, Cisco does recommend this as a training aid / exam prep tool. I just sat for 642-871 (passed!), and this product definitely helped me prepare. Kind of pricey at $99 a pop, but if you clck on Cisco and then specials, you will find that they are running a buy 2 get 1 free special at this time. | |

| Yeah, I just got the CCDA two days ago at a 30% discount. So we will see how it goes.
Thanks for the comments!

| All,
With regards to this Kaplan software, would anyone go as far as to say, it would be the equivalent of having an actual book for the 642-871 exam? OHCCNP2003, did you do the course for the exam, or what exactly were your resources?

| I used the Sybex and Cisco Press books to learn the material. To prepare for the exam I used the Self Test products to identify areas that needed further study. The Self Test products are meant to simulate an actual exam, not to replace study materials. While the answers to the questions do come with explanations, they certainly don't take the place of the books. Curiously enough, I found the ARCH exam to be less difficult than the DESGN exam. Maybe all of the trial by fire experience has helped me somewhat. One can only hope. |
