Author CCDA - out with the old....

I started studying for my CCDA a few months ago, having bought the cisco press book, out of a fairly limited choice.

So I got a bit of a shock last week when I rechecked the web site and found the exam was being updated....Last chance to take the old one is end of Feb.

That in itself is not a problem (hey, it's great not to have to learn out of date material). The only problem is that, as far as I can gather, there is no supporting books from Cisco for the new course yet.

This would also not be a problem if Cisco outlined the exam headings in detail, so I could study the new components from other sources. Unfortunately, they seem not to have.

The only option Cisco seems to have on offer is to take their course. I am a bit averse to spending thousands on a three day course, just to learn what material has been updated.

So for now it seems I need to study flat out and hope like hell I pass the exam first time round!

So have I missed anything....or is this just the way it works?

Anyway, hope you all have a happy new year!

Just booked my test date yesterday, I'm going for it on the 1st March.

I have just taken the net+ exam prior to this, and have read the comments about doing the CCNA first, but I am hoping it will be ok.

I'm still pleased I got the Cisco CCDA book, but thought the structure and layout were somewhat confusing and repetitive. I thought the sybex book was somewhat better, and had less sales pitch! I guess it is well worth having at least a couple of books.

And before anyone takes this as a plug for either, it's a bit too late to buy them now!

And good luck MaulerJ, hope you do ok!
