| Well done mate...I'm sitting this tomorrow and am NOT looking forward to it as work has gotten in the way of studying - any pointers (without breaking the NDA of course!) | |
|
| congrats, and best of luck with the CID
By the way, in terms of difficulty, how would rate the CCDA compared to the CCNA?

| Hi Freak,
so far i took ccna, ccnp, ccie written. but my boss wanted me to complete the design track
ccda is not that easy. i think it is more difficult than ccna coz u have to know like "everything".

| Congrats to both of you! Any tips for the rest of us? I am planning on taking this one in about a month and I know Freak is working on it too.. | |

| Here are my tips for the exam:
a) You've got to love reading case studies (around 80% of my exam consisted of these)
b) Know Token Ring, ATM and ISDN - a review of the Internetworking Technologies Handbook is sufficient for this
c) Route summarisation
d) VLSM
e) HSRP - what it is
f) Wear strong glasses - I had a severe headache after this!!!
g) Boson Test 1 and 2 - these were fairly good
h) Case studies in the CCDA Certification guide were not unlike the ones in the test
i) Show commands - only basic ones
j) Review ICND material along with point b
That hasn't broken the NDA has it??
If you need any more give me a shout and I will rack my brains!

| Hey thanks a lot Andy! After reading through the DCN book and the CCDA certification kit and looking over the objectives, I figured I would need to crack the CCNA books back out again. Both of those books don't refresh OSI, WAN protocols, and a couple of other objectives well enough. One question for you, how do the design scenarios compare to those in 70-219? I see that you are MCSE 2K, but I don't know if you took that exam. That was the only real design exam I have taken, and I just wonder if this is similar (lengthy scenarios that don't always have a lot to do with the actual questions) or if Cisco has made theirs even tougher to follow. Thanks again for the outline! | |

| I have taken the 219 and 221 exams and they are EASIER than this one in more ways than one - M$ give you one case study at a time to concentrate on, the DA exam asks you one question on one study then moves onto another then another then back again....did that make sense? | |

| hi andyc,
the part with the different case studies definatly sucked it was kinda confusing.
How would u rate M$ exams compared to Cisco exams? i might take mcse stuff soon
ciao

| Well, thanks for the input Andy. If when the time comes you need some help with 70-228 and 70-229, let me know. Those were the last two I took and I would be happy to help if you need some direction. Take care | |
|
| I may just take you up on that....I have the 229 to take for DBA and I work with SQL 7 and 2000 on an almost daily basis BUT, I have to study for NP/DP and IE written as well as IPT Support Specialist too........H-E-L-P my brain is turning to jelly | |
