| Hi All,
I was wondering what the difference is between the cat 2900 and the cat 3500 switches. The only difference my CCDA book mentions is that the 3500 is autosensing. Surely the 2900 is also autosensing?
The only other difference I can see is that the 3500 comes in a higher port density model.
Thanks in advance,

| You can get the 3524 in a PWR config which has powered ports, which are good for IP phones and powering wireless access points.
Also they have gbic expansion slots for things like gig fiber modules.
The 3548 "which doesn`t have the PWR option" has reached end of life already and is being replaced by the 2950 G,a 48 port switch that has enhanced processing " this is from my Cisco rep".

| Many thanks for that info Chodan
I'm know the 29xx series fairly well but haven't had anything much to do with the 35xx series yet.

| actually I noticed that that some of the 2900
series have the GBIC expansion slots.
|
| All of the 2900's and 3500's went EOL a while ago, with the exception of the 3524-pwr, this will go EOL when inline power is finally ratified!!
The replacements are the 2950 series and 3550 series, although I guess for the exam stick with the old kit.

| Thats right Mat P. I think the CCDA could really benifit from an update to include more recent models!!
Who uses a Cisco Fast Hub in a design solution these days!!!???
