| wrong forum.
anyway, learn to use the resources available to you. As this is your 1st post, I can't believe that you would think this is an easier and more obvious a place to find the solution to your problem than ---> support.microsoft.com
select windows nt 4.0 and enter crashdump in search field. | |

| Yes, this question was performed in the wrong forum. But, in short, here is an answer. Windows NT will drop a crashdump image file when it experiences a device problem or a stop error. This file, written to the root of your system volume, is called MEMORY.DMP, I believe. Without ALOT of experience, you will not be able to make sense of this file without talking to Microsoft or using sophisticated Crashdump analysis tools. Basically, it is a memory/binary image of your RAM when the error occurred. In theory, one could use this to determined what went wrong. The easier way is to look at the device that failed, which is output during the Blue Screen of Death during the memory write. The device driver will be a file, which you should be able to translate to a hardware device, which should give you an idea as to what failed.
If you need more help, move this question to a Windows NT forum. |
