I wanted to talk about the CCDA exam a little because there is not much going on in here with it compared to the other Cisco exams. Yesterday I passed this exam and I am relieved! I needed this exam for my job. I have a few comments on the exam that may help those working on thier CCDA. First they do ask you a lot of senerio questions I would say over half of the exam is that. They also switch from case to case to mix up the test taker. also it is a lot to read and you only have 120 min to take it I think that is a lot but if you read slow you could be in trouble. My statagy on this was to not read the exibit all the way thru. Let me explain. If you read the question and understand what they are asking and then look at the answers to choose from you can almost always eliminate 2 of them. Next you pull the exibit up and skim thru it until you find a part that deals with your question. This helped me a lot I flew thru most of those types of questions. Also as most people tell will tell you there are a few of these questions that do not add up but as Cisco says choose the best answer. When I was taking my exam I knew I had a chance to pass it but I did not sweet it if I came to question and I didnt have a clue what they was talking about because I just said F*** it and piked my answer and moved on....it seemed to work. Bottem line is on this test they ask you about so much it is hard to study and remember every detail about all of the technologies I dont ever use (example: Token Ring, SNA, IPX, Apple Talk) One thing I can say is the Cisco press book and Boson helped me on this exam Test 1 by Mark@boson.com was the closest to the real exam. But do not forget to read the cisco press book it is not that thick but it is filled with a lot of information you need. One funny thing about this exam is in real life you will not design a complex network in 30 sec based on a description. You will go on site and meet the customer talke to him and then you will do design drawings and look things up in books and the web also you will talk to you partners at work to get their spin on it before you ever tell the custmomer this is the design and thats that.

Congrats on your pass.
No design exam is an easy task.
And DCN is no exception.
I personaly wouldn`t have tackled it before my CCNP but it seems to have paid off for you.
This will set you up very well for your CCNP studies.

Thanks for your congrats! I belive that it would have been better to take the CCNP track first also. I got a lot of questions and routing protocols and that was the lowest scoreing part of the exam for me. I have focused most of my exams around my job and at this time my job called for that cert so thats why I took it first.

How many case studies in your exam.?

I have to say over half of the exam was case study. I would not let that discourge anyone from taking the exam. Yes it is true that it can be tough to read all of the case studys and that is why I did not read them all the way through. I would just skim down the page and look for information that would help answer the question. On some of the case study questions I did not even have to read any of the case study I could just tell what the answer would be by looking at the choices.
