Author considering CCDA, only have CCNA

Hi, Ive been told by some that CCDA is an easy exam (comparable to CCNA) and should be attempted straight after sitting CCNA (with minimal study).

I get the impression from the threads in this group that this is not the case

Any recommendations?

Thanks

I don`t think the term "easy" and Cisco test should be in the same sentence.
All kidding aside take this test seriously.
Also consider the source of the comment, perhaps the person who told you that is a Cisco guru.
Maybe to them it was a breeze, that doesn`t mean you should short change this test.
I work on the assumption that every next test is going to be the hardest yet.
That way I don`t get to cocky.

Where did they get that from?? I wouldn't take any financial advice from them!

This is by far the most mind bending difficult exam I have taken from Cisco. CCNP's have taken it and failed it, it's by no means easy. The most difficult bit is the case studies, they take a lot of reading - I couldn't concentrate for a couple of hours after taking it.

Saying that, if you put the work in it isn't that difficult - but nothing is if your well prepared.

I did the CCNA then CCDA, in hindsight I think I should have at least done the routing exam first.

Give the exam the respect it deserves, you won't pass this from braindumps or Boson alone - it took me 6 months on and off.

Ah yes Mat P that was before you found the Yeti though

But Mat & Chodan are right the CCDA is not an easy exam in the slightest, take heed this one needs lots of hard work.

Don't get me wrong - it's not impossible.

A few posters were saying it was really difficult and put me off taking the exam several times, hence the 6 months.

The questions are only easy if you know the answers. (Chris Tarrant, ITV's Who Wants to be a Millionaire?)
And you only know the answers by doing the studying.(Hippo)

I did my ccda after my ccna and i promised myself never to go though that kind of suffering again-My sincere advice is to do your ccnp first(if you intend to do it)and then do for you ccda. That way you will get the best out of your ccda while increasing your ability to pass on first attempt.

All that said-I believe that all things are possible to them that believe and work hard.

I took CCNA and passed it, and a few months ago I took CCDA, It wasn't the hardest exam I guess, but you gotta know the answers!! so you need a lot of study first.

In my experience, I have taken about 14 certification exams. By far the CCDA/CCDP are the hardest series I have run across yet. I would not recommend taking either exam until you have completed the CCNP track or at least have the knowledge level of a CCNP. Reason: CCNP teaches you the basics of the protocols, topologies, and theories. CCDA/CCDP exams assume you already know how to do many tasks, for example. The more you know how to do, the easier it will be to undestand the concepts in CCDA/CCDP certification training. Anyway, hope this helps, I hope you persue your CCNP first!

Thanks!
