| All,
I need some advice from you CCIE experts out there.
I want to buy some Cisco routers to play about with and learn CCNP/CCIE stuff.
Please advise what would be a good long-term investment on a modest budget.

| GO TO EBAY
Do not collect $200.00. Go directly to ebay. 3640 can be had for $900.00 less network modules and possibly RAM.
The 2621 would be the ideal router to get in that it provides two Fast Ethernet interface along with two Network Modules. You are limited to 64M RAM though. So full BGP routing tables are due to the recommended 128M stated (~115,000 BGP entries in 5/2001).
The flash should be 20M(newer) or 16M on some older ones allowing most IOS version.
I have not looked for pricing on the 2600 series on ebay. | |

| I responded to the same Q that you posted in the CCIE forum, get a 2600 series router and it will be a good long-term investment. |
