| I don't think you have to memorize the Product Quick Reference Guide, but I think you should have a general idea of the capabilities of the various product lines.
For example, you should know enough that an 800 series router won't be a good choice as the Internet gateway for a company with thousands of computers or that a 2900 series switch isn't a good choice at the core of a huge LAN.
You probably won't need to know how many serial ports can be installed on a 3640 router, the questions aren't that specific.
For the most part, Cisco makes it easy on us, since features usually increase with model number. Thus, a 6500 series switch is far more capable than a 2900 series. Of course, they through us for a loop once in a while with products like the 3900 series switch, which isn't even related to the 2900 or 6500, since the 3900 is Token Ring. |
