| Well, I nailed this one into the history books today, but it did put up a fight and did not go down easy. A special thanks to all who posted advice for study materials, and of course the nice folks who provide such this cool free site. I used Boson #1 (good), ccxxproductions (great), the CID Ciscopress (great) and Sybex (good). A week before the exam I pooled all the questions together which was around 600 or so and went over them two to three times daily until test day. I used the ciscopress book to verify the correctnes of each prep question which really works well for me. I made sure to know why the right answer was right. Someone suggested to make an audio tape of the questions and that was an excellent idea. I feel the same about this exam as many others I have taken over time. Go in after feeling prepared to score a 1000 and come out happy with you get. There really is no margin for error with all the tricky business that gets asked. Here is an example: Lots of folks have said that SNA and mainframe, ATM, and other things tripped them up. I made 100 % sure that I was in no way lacking in iether of these topics, especially since I rarely deal with them. One more thing: It is very true that if you take this exam after CCNP, and CCDA, it is certainly easier. Lots of things you have been exposed to previously are helpful. Just look at the objectives on Cisco's site and you will see what I mean, like the windows stuff, etc. Well cheers to all and thanks again. I am going to slide in another direction for now and sharpen up my perl and firewall skills. Good luck to everybody and remember not to take this one lightly, know the "gimme" questions and use as many resources as possible. | |

| traceroute,
Sounds like you study like I do. Way too much. But then again knowing the material cold for the test means a good amount of it will stay with you even if you are not using all that info right away. Everyone must experience this because I doubt anyone on this board is using all the technologies discussed in all 5 CCNP/CCDP at least once a week. I don't see why people need braindumps and all these practice tests, classes, CBTs. Read the cisco press book. Try out every command in the book. Find a practice test and review, review, review.

| Darthfeces: I scored an 803. I believe I was tripped up mostly on some of the tricky ones and the ones that did not sem to make any sense (at least to me). I believe if I would have taken more time I would have gotten a better score but it is frustrating to sit and stare at the screen and have no idea, so I just clicked and hit next because I was confident most of the time. As far as Boson #1 and CID, If you knew the CID book cover to cover and drilled the Boson enough (like 10 times or more) you should be able to do it but I am going to be conservative and say spend the 19.95 at www.ccxxproductions.com for their test question pool which gives you about 400 or so questions which are really close in format and a great practice tool to insure the pass success. I hope this helps and best of luck. You can do it just pound your brain with practice and follow the objectives.
Ramlax: Its the only way to go. Overstudying has never bit me yet and I dont know about everyone else but losing $100.00 is not an experience I enjoy. I gave them a free $100 on CCNA the first round and it was not fun. Ever since then I review, review, double check, review, verify, review and go over what I reviewed to make sure I did not miss anything.

| Congratulations!, I know what you mean about the score. I thought I was going to do better as well. What the hell, as the old saying goes " A pass is a pass!!" | |

| traceroute,
good to here some personal pride is out there instead of money chasing. I always thought any of the whatever+ certifications were for bartenders trying to get rich quick. Good thing you failed the CCNA now you have this motivation that won't let you down for the rest of the tests. well good luck to ya.
