Author The inside scoop on the inside scoop book...

Hello all;

I just recieved the Mark Poplar/BFQ textbook "Inside Scoop on CCDA Certification" in the mail and there are a few thing that were surprising about it.

1. It has not one word about the Cisco product line (ie... features, interfaces available for each model and why one series of router or switch is used in a given situation instead of another).

2. Almost half of the book is answers to practice questions and a glossary. The book is listed with many online retailers as being 450 pages and while this is technically true, there is only about 250 pages of real text. Its basically a poor man's version of an "exam cram" book except this one costs $40 instead of the usual $18.95 at bookpool.

3. The book does do a good job of covering basic design and networking, but I wouldn't feel comfortable with this being my only study guide for the exam.

Hope this post helps answers a few question I've seen on this board over the last week or so.

Glad to hear that--I was going to order it as well.
Actually, ordered Mr. Lammle's book and they sent me the Syngress one by mistake. Maybe it's an omen and I should use that one first--I have the option of keeping it or returning it.

Has anyone used the Syngress book, and if so, what were your opinions?
Some folks reviewing it on Amazon loved it, others hated it.
