| I passed the CCDA today! Yay! This was the second time I took the exam. The first time I missed the pass mark by one question. This time, I left the pass mark in the dust. I didn't even really study in the 6 days between my first sitting and today. It was just a matter of getting used to the format of the actual exam (which differs greatly from the practice exam provided by Cisco Press). There are a lot of vague questions that leave you pondering one of two possible answers...this was very annoying...but, whatever. A pass is a pass. Thanks for your help, guys. This forum is great. Let's make it as strong as the CCNA.
Cheers,
Danny

| Congratulation!
As I said before CCDA is not hard. It needs a fresh mind to tackle.

|
| Congrats!! to you...Best of luck in your further adventures... | |
|
| I don't have anything on my immediate agenda aside from getting more hands on experience in the field with my new knowledge. I am sure once I get comfortable with working with all this stuff I will go for CCDP and CCNP...

| Hi Danny,
Congrats. Can you please post what materials you used for prep. Thanks.

|
| I used the Cisco Press CCDA book by Bruno and Kim. That is all. I have no hands-on experience with Cisco products, and have never worked with WAN stuff...I studied for one month.

CCNA, CCDA
The only experience I have is in doing a little bit of CAT 5 cabling, and through being a network administrator for a small company.

"As I said before CCDA is not hard. It needs a fresh mind to tackle."
just a curious Question, but...
What did you mean by 'fresh mind' ??
And is it really not hard??
I havnt looked at any materials for the CCDA yet and have no experience wotsoevah in the Networking, and computing INdustry but have my CCNA and A+ Cert, would it be hard for me to grasp the concept and pass the exam you think??
|
| If you don't have any working experience in networking, CCDA will be harder than CCNA a lot. Many questions in CCDA exam to me are just common sense. I mean not much in depth to the technology but just need your usual logical mind in networking. It does not like CCNA which has much command questions that you only need to memorize the syntax. | |
|
| hmmZzz..! Is there anyone here who passed the CCDA without experience in the Networking industry??
I really don't know what to do now. I'm just scared i wont be able to pass it - perhaps i should just go and find a job then do the CCDA, or maybe just really study and hope i pass.
If the CCDA is harder than the CCNA... in which I already thought the CCNA was hard... it's going to take alot of hard work to get through. But heck.. If it can be done, then im going to do it =P

If you study well, you can pass it. The test is one that makes you think, because majority of questions are on the case studies. You have to have good reading comprehension. Some of the technology questions are broader in scope than the CCNA. Be familiar with appletalk,SNA,ATM etc. Not to deep, but be familiar. Make sure you spend some time reading the Internetworking tech handbook or look up info on Cisco's site. The CCDA exam guide is also very good, study that one well.
The test is passable, but it will tax your mental capabilities and endurance. Most that pass actually feel until the very end that they failed. I felt this way. I passed--first time. I had the pressure of a job offer riding on it also.
Study well and you can do it!!!

| thanks EA! that was some good advice and great encouragement you gave me
I recently just borrowed the CCDA exam guide by kim n bruno from a friend of mine along with 'internetworking technologies handbook' (for reference) and i just read the first 10 pages.. about customer's objectives and needs... the graphics/pictures are sooooo cool
I think i might go out and get a copy of my own!!
Well anyways! My question is:
Are these two books, or should i say this one book, by Kim and Bruno (Cisco Press CCDA Exam Guide) enough for me to pass the exam??
Thanks all!! | |

That's a hard question to answer.
It depends on how comfortable you are with the technology. How do you feel about what you have learned in your CCNA studies? If you did well then you can grasp the design concepts that are needed along with the technology that makes it go. That is what the CCDA test is about. The exam guide is very good. Do the practice questions at the end of the chapter along with the scenarios and you'll get an idea of what to expect on the test. Check out the questions on the cd that comes with the book.
Are you going to find exact questions that appear on the test? No But you will find out the way cisco wants you to think.
For example: If you know that AppleTalk is chatty and can consume bandwidth, then your answer on the test may involve how you would break up broadcast domains or increase bandwidth. But if you don't know that about AppleTalk, you would be guessing at the answer. ( Many of the questions are never that clear and simple !!! )
I'm rambling so I'll stop.
Study the exam guide you'll do fine.
Hope this helps,

For both the CCNA and CCDA I studied the books and used the cds that came with the books. I used the tests on the cds primarily. I did try some free practice questions at various websites, but not very many.
