| i finally passed CID last week... i feel so much relieved. the wonderful thing about passing design tests is that it makes you feel you know more about networking. even though the score wasn't all that great, i think it prepares me well for the CCIE. a lot of things you study in the design exams do not measure your design abilities but you don't have control over that. cisco requires it so you have to study. anyway, i'm going to enjoy christmas and take a break for now.

| Congrats!
What materials did you use? Tests?
Books? Did you get hammered with anyone topic? Or were the topics fairly distributed?
Thanks in ADV,

| honestly, my score wasn't all that great so my recommendations may not help you. i've made a commitment to pass the exam in two weeks after CCDA... i sort of rushed through studying the CID. i got hit hard on SNA, security, and campus LAN design, which are all my weaknesses. i would thoroughly read Birkner's book and also Crane's on security.
it took two tries before i passed it. persistence pays off for everything... keep plugging at it and you'll get it.

2. Cisco(R) CID Exam Certification Guide

| Well done,
I'm really impressed - two weeks studying, I don't know how you guys manage it - it seems to take me at least 3 months for each exam. I tend to spend most evenings studying, and in quiet periods at work (most of the time recently!) playing and studying. I reckon I do too much studying, but all scores have been in the mid ninety's kind of justifying it!!

| well, actually it took me 3 weeks cuz i failed one the first time and had to retake it the second time. i thought boson exams helped me a lot. i took the time to do boson and it really paid off.
i also did all the review questions in sybex (borrowed this book if you can; don't purchase it cuz it's definitely NOT a keeper).
i'm going to start studying ccie today and plan to do it in three-four months for both written and lab (yike). on to the ccie forum.
btw, has anyone seen stanford women's volleyball today on espn. TOM LOGAN IS AWESOME!!!
GO CARDINALS! |
