I took the exam on Friday and I thought it was allot harder than the CCNP tests. I went through those test without a problem. What makes the test extremely difficult is the scenario questions. Questions that had nothing to do with the scenarios weren't difficult at all. I missed passing by one question, but I still thought the test was very difficult. You have to really focus on the long scenario questions. I plan on giving it another shot very soon.

now that is a good frame of mind. You will pass it. What materials are you using

I'm using Osborne's CCDA Study Guide. I did a little research before I bought the book and this was the only book that people seem to have felt no other materials were needed. Every one felt that Cybex wasn't enough, nor was Cicso Press. I think the book is excellent, but I fumble on the scenario questions. I think I did well other than that. There is nothing that could have prepared me for all that reading on a test. If I can better handle the scenario question, I think I can aces the test.

Sorry to hear you failed, I've been a member of this forum now for about a year and it always seems that those that have the CCNP struggle - I don't know why, possibly it's felt that its only a DA and will be comparable to the NA.

Also as for books I strongly recommend the Cisco press exam cert guide as does everybody who's read it, alongside this I would recommend the Ciscopress DCN book - but at a minimum get the exam cert. They are full of scenarios and are a great help.

Good luck when you resit it.

I agree, it is what I used. It helps get the frame of mind needed to read and decipher the scenerios.

Mat P I hear what you are saying, but I took the test very seriously!!! I work in a Networking department full of CCNPs and some CCIE writtens and a few of them have taken the CCDA and warned me that it was very hard. Only 2 people have there CCDP. I also work with firewalls and I'm strongly concidering working on my CSA. I do heavy work with both and it would look really good to have both CCNP and FW certs. I had a long talk with a friend and getting the CCDA/DP does not seem as worth while as working on Security certs seeing that I do both. Design is an excellent cert to have, but for me I feel it would be more worth while to start working on my security certs. And since my ultimate goal is to get the CCIE (in security), I think my time will be better spent working on that. I thank you guys for all your support, but I think I'm going to enjoy the rest of the holiday season with my family and start working on my security certs in the new year!!! Everyone have a great X-mas and happy New Year!!!
