Failed this morning with a vengeance!

| I knew yesterday that I wasn't ready, but I forgot to call and cancel within the 24 hour period, so I had to take it. I got a 669. Its about what I expected. Just so you know, the Inside Scoop book is seriously lacking. I'd say 40% of the test dealt with the cases, and the other 60% were normal questions. What's up with you having to type in an answer manually? It seems like there's no margin for error. For instance, if the answer was "Switched Virtual Circuit" and I put SVC. Anyhow, I'm going to buy a better book and get cracking again. What is everyone's suggestion for a book? | |

| I found the Ciscopress cert guide was excellent. It had plenty of case studies, though it sounds like the exam may have changed. Mine was probably 70% case studies, and I can't remember typing any answers.

Best of luck next time.

| Don't worry about it too much. I completed my CCNP in record time, almost everything in under 2 1/2 months. I had to study for the CCDA for a whole month, and I was still unsure when I went in to take the test.
I only used the Cisco Press Certification Book. If you used the Course Companion, that could be the problem. The Certification Book did an excellent job at describing every aspect of a medium to small network design project. Not much messing around and a lot of hard facts to hone up to but at least I found it to be complete.
Although I passed the test, it wasn't as clear of a pass as I had on other exams, low 900's. I felt that after the exam that I just would have benefited from having some more time to get the different themes that they were asking about. A Boson exam probably wouldn't have hurt either!!
Good luck on your next try! | |

| hello Mat P & Depamo,
you've both recommended the Exam book rather than the Prep book...
I'm about to ask my family for a CCDA book for Christmas, is this the one I want? I've had the Prep Library for CCNP and I'd normally go along that route for a more in-depth study, but the CCDA Prep book was published some months before the Exam book and I'm rather concerned that it'll be updated sometime soon.
I'll not be taking CIT until around next February so the CCDA will be sometime around May/June of next year and a lot can happen in that time.
Maybe I should request the family delay buying the book until next year?
Regards
