Congrats on your certs.

I passed my CCNA last week. So far, I'm hitting the books right now on the CCDA. I have the Cisco CCDA Professional Library, which includes the Internetworking Technologies Handbook (ITH), the Designing Cisco Networks (DCN) couse book, and the CCDA exam guide.

The ITH is a great reference. I'm about 80% done with reading through it as a first pass. Very dry, but good for learning/relearning the bits and bytes of the various technologies.

The DCN book is the "official" course book, and it seems to be pretty good. I haven't touched the exam study guide yet, so I don't know how good it is.

I also will add my congrats to you !!!

Welcome to the forum

I'm almost done with CCDA studies. I'm using the CCDA Prep Library. I've already read the Top Down book, but I think I'll hit it again before the exam.

Hi ccnpwala!

That nice to hear that you had completed CCNA/CCNP. Now you are into CCDA. I had completed my CCDA after CCNA, working for CCNP. I feel the way you approached CCDA is right path, ie. CCNA, CCNP then CCDA & CCDP. Get Cisco's CCDA Exam. Cert. Guide and Top-down Network Design of Priscilla. It should not be a hard exam.

Best of Luck

ccnpwala:

Why are you taking this exam? Especially after CCNP. I took it and added it to the list but, even now, I wonder if it was at all worth the effort. I suppose that I would have the same feeling as if I passed the CCNA-WAN Switching exam: an accomplishment, certainly, but one with almost no recognition in the workplace at all.

Perhaps you intend to get a CCDP?

Just curious.

In order to get CCDP you need to finish CCDA track. If you look at the job market Design professional are in demand than network professional. It doesnot hurt to get as much as knowledge i can. In DC and NY area CCDP is always a plus. Lawrence have you finished you CCDA if yes any notes of tips you can share.
Thanks :-)

That is what I meant: you might be going for your CCDP thus you need the CCDA. Next time I shall be more concise.
