| Greetings one and all,
I am worrying myself sick over the CCDA exam. I have the Cisco DCN book. The case studies are quite complex. How does one study for this exam.
The Boson tests don't provide much on case studies. Does anyone have a suggestion? Thank you.

| Where are the Cisco and CCDA experts in this forum? Maybe they are busy. Anyway, I'll comment on what I know. The Boson exam might be weak on case studies but they are great in learning and reinforcing the general and specific theory questions on internetworking, routing and switching.
I also have the DCN book and this book will help us in the case study aspect of the exam in which Boson might be weak.

| I don't think there's really a particular way to prepare for the case studies other than just to really know your stuff. One of the things that makes them complex is because there is often a bunch of extraneous information stuck in there. I usually have to read the description 4 to 6 times to make sure I understand everything. Read it once just to get a general feel for the situation and don't sweat the details. Then read it again and make a note of the more important details. Then re-read the question a couple of times to make sure you know exactly what they're asking. Read the description again and find the parts that directly address the question. Write them down if you want. Come up with an idea about what you think the answer should be and then compare that to the possible answers. If you can find an answer that you think is correct, re-read the question and the description to make sure that you didn't miss anything that would invalidate the answer you've chosen. Do this with a couple of the answers if you have trouble choosing. Usually you'll find something to cause you to lean towards one of the answers.
That's how I typically approach any lengthy question whether it's on the CCDA test or the GRE and I've found that it works well for me. You just have to have the patience to churn through the question and description many times to make sure you know exactly what they want. This takes a lot of discipline for some people, especially if you're worried about running out of time. This could be especially troublesome if you're unfortunate enough to get several case studies in the first part of the test and find that it's taken you 30 minutes to answer 15 questions or something. Just relax. There's more than enough time to finish this exam because there's lots of very short multiple choice questions.
