| From what I've gathered so far, taking the composite test for CCNP is viewed exactly the opposite as the composite for CCNA: everyone that takes the combined CCNA exam (including myself) is glad they did it. This is mainly because you get a combination of INTRO (easy) questions and ICND (hard) questions, rather than taking one all easy test and one all hard test. On the CCNP side, I haven't heard of anyone taking the combined routing and switching test unless they were renewing their CCNP. There really isn't much overlap between the two, unlike CCNA which has numerous overlap topics.
One unconfirmed rumor I've heard, is that the grading for the routing/switching test is split up between the two sections. So if you don't hit the pass mark just on the routing portion of the questions, but you do really well on the switching questions, you'll fail the whole test. It's not graded as an overall view. I've only heard this from one source though.
EDIT: Just noticed you're already a CCNP so you'll be renewing. Hopefully you'll get more feedback that's relevant to you! |
