IGRP sending incremental updates
|
|
|
| According to CCNP Self-Study CCNP BSCI Exam Certification Gruide Third Edition (page 143 and page 166), IGRP sends incremental updates. It does not say what and when?
Any ideas? | |

| Tried it and all I get is,
"The file you were trying to reach cannot be found. The file may have been moved to a different location or removed because the information it contained is no longer valid."
Searched the net for incremental updates AND IGRP, still no joy.
Does anyone know what incremental updates (and when)IGRP sends?

| Ponder "as needed" and see if that gives you a hint as to when.

| IGRP is suppose to do a full routing update (ie complete table) every 90 secs by default AND every time there is a topology change (ie triggered update).... not incremental update.
The book says IGRP does incremental update as and when required. No reference to what this is and when.
Has Cisco Press got it wrong? Can't find anything on the Internet that suggests IGRP does incremental updates.

| Triggered and incremental both refer to the same thing. Triggered as in when there is a topology change, a network lost or added. Incremental in that it only sends that change, not the whole routing table.

| That's EIGRP and not IGRP.
On page 143 (the same book), it says that IGRP sends the full routing table when there is a change in the network (triggered update) and on periodic updates (90 secs by default).

| You already knew the answer!
I believe Cisco has stopped supporting IGRP.
