Is it possible to upgrade 100basefx to 1000basesx using the same fiber. I believe that the 100Mb limitation on the fiber is due to the modules installed on both ends of the link. Couldn't I just remove the 100basefx modules, purchase new switches that support 1000basesx and connect the fiber into the modules? 100basefx and 1000basesx both support SC type connectors.

the fiber itself is "media independant"
since we're shooting light accross the link
we are only limited by what we can do with the light.
so you ARE limited by what the interface you use can do,
what protocol it can talk,
and the distance limitation of that protocol.
