I am not sure If I should go for CCNP or network security

Can someone give me some insights

Tough call. Cisco and security are definitely where it's at right now (I here Novell is pretty hot too

haha). I did Security+ (which is only entry level in the security world) and I'm glad I went through it, but I don't enjoy it anywhere near as much as routing/switching. I now know that I would never want to be in a pure security role because I'd be bored silly.

If you're not already in a solid networking position, it's going to be pretty tough to get into a security role. With a CCNP under your belt, you've got a shot at the entry level networking job with no real experience. This might not apply to you, but hopefully fits into some of the readers on this thread.
