I've been through company paid 1 week courses at New Horizons on A+, Network+, and Security+. The courses are great for hands on work and laying the foundation, but a normal human still needs plenty of study time in order to pass a test. If you remember everything you hear and see, then paying out of pocket for a quick course and taking the test right afterwards would be great. I can't imagine anyone that didn't already know most of the material doing that for a Cisco test though.

Have you found a decent price at all? The courses I took at New Horizon's were typically $1600 which I would never pay out of my own pocket. The hands on experience is nice for a Cisco test, but that money would be better spent on real equipment or a simulator.

I was told 20% by training camp, frm original like 7-8k. If it was worth I'd save up for a while and g0o for it, but it doesnt look like a good idea anymore.. How was the new horizon? was taht ccnp or ccna?

Hey zxmjkxz (love your name by the way )

New Horizon's is a pretty huge training chain in the US. My local New Horizon's center does occasionally run a CCNA course. More commonly though, a lot of people choose to attend a Cisco Accademy, which is just a Cisco authorized course held at a tech school or university. I did go through that and definitely benefited from the real world experience and wide range of equipment we worked with. The courses are very high quality, but you're also in a normal education environment which means several months rather than 1 week.

I looked at NH's prices, it was like 2500 per course, so 10k for the whole ccnp =/ pretty steep.. 1k would be much better =/
I would probably rather study completely on my own than take a several month course from an actual school...

btw congrats on your 35.9% =]
