I am just about to embark on the CCNP and I was wondering if other members who have completed the exams could tell me what hardware would be ideal for a home lab:

What is the minimum switch requirements and how many?

What is the minimum router requirements and how many?

Are there any other additional hardware requirements?

I already have the most recent version of the CCNP press books covering:

642-801 BSCI -
Building Scalable Cisco Internetworks

642-811 BCMSN -
Building Cisco Multilayer Switched Networks

642-821 BCRAN -
Building Cisco Remote Access Networks

642-831 CIT -
Cisco Internetwork Troubleshooting

Following a recent thread, this is the order that I shall be taking the exams.

Thanks in advance

this might help

i don't think you have to go crazy.

also look into the ccnp practical studies series and see what they recommend in order to do those labs.

personally i passed without a lab
but 2500,2600 maybe a frame switch.
and any switch you can muster
2900, 3500xl , 3550 would help
depends how far you a willing to go
anthing you buy will go a long way to the ccie home lab too ....
