I am very interested in the service provider aspects of networking and am currently looking for some good material on such subjects at the HFC, DSL and various other popular access technologies.

I am not really seeking any certifications on the subject(yet) but rather trying to find some great detailed information on these topics. I have an older copy of Cisco Press: Residential Broadband, which isn't bad but I am looking for some in depth and up to date coverage of the topics.

Oh and one more thing. Does anyone know of any good material on the telephone networks. In depth details highly technical material that is hardly even readable? The reason being is that I like to know big terms so that I can appear smarter then I truly am. Actually I am looking for information on class 5 switch configuration etc... I skimmed through various books at book stores but never found anything that goes into the sort of detail I am looking for. Perhaps this is some sort of guarded information? To keep non uber elite geeks in the dark?

Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks
