| Good day
In a lab environment, with 9 routers including CAT 5000 and mixed topologies, mixed routing protocols, why have 9 loopback addresses set per router, on many of the routers.
******Where can I get a simulation package that will allow up to 10 routers to configure and powerful enough to run Cisco IOS and Cisco Set based IOS.******
I have an old sim package but it does not work that good. I also own 2 ?2501 IOS 12.1, but I need the lab work in a larger scope
Thanks for the help

| I dunno as I haven't use sims but a quick check of bosons seem to be decent.
it claim
" It gives you access to over 40 devices, allowing you to build a network of up to 200 devices! "
it has cat5 for switch
there is a demo, you can try.
for $250, it is a very cheap alternative. a sun ultra 5 cost that much...
if they don't support some feature, it will prolly serve well to build the foundation and then you can rent rack that has whatever you need.
edit:
"It gives you access to over 40 devices and currently supports the use of 47 devices. "
dunno, you figure it yoruself

| Thank you mikop. How long has this cim been out?
any other options | |

http://www.boson.com/netsim/labNavigator.htm
As I have not use any of their sim, I dunno, I would suspect the choice ends up being personal preference.
Read the document it provided, read the supported protocols, devices etc etc. Download their demo to try it out.
each cost 250-300 so they are pretty cheap alternative anyway and price won't be a factor.
as far as how long they've being out... dunno you can check their revision history. However, each of them in various incarnation has been out atleast 4-5 years, tho their beginning may be a lot more humble and under a different name...

found that when I was looking at network learning.
I couldn't figure out if you are looking for ccie lab <- you are in big trouble here because the features required. or if you are looking at ccnp lab <- as indicated by your stated requirement and the cert you are working on.

| I understand you are preparing for your CCIE labs. It would be big joke if you prefer SIMs rather than actual routers. A ggrave mistake you are committing if you undermine the CCIE lab contents...Nothing could replace when it comes to actual hands-on with the Routers. I am a CCIE since 2 years ago and and I know pretty much how hard it is. My honest advise would be try Ebay they are around $100 each. Best of luck! | |

time to get very intimate with cisco.com if you are really going for ccie. Many follow the strategy of buying lab to fit the lab book they will be using or quite frankly, overbuy everything becasue they realize this isn't a joke.

| Thanks Mikop
That was the shortcut I needed - I have been out of the network world for a year, now I am going back.
fun fun fun!
