| hello everbody,
is there any question about CAT OS or catalyst 5000 serie on this exam. I have some difficulties to remember this kind of command, I prefer IOS command.
thanks | |

| Hi,
I think there will not be any question related to Cat OS. It was written in the Cisco press new book by david hucaby that there Cat OS is not covered in BCMSN 2.0. But I am also confused that when I study the questions of CCNP 640-811 there are lots of CatOS command question in boson exam. Hope there will be no such questions.

| Ignore Boson. A LOT of questions on the Boson BCMSN tests are outdated - Like the CatOS example you guys bring up or the models of switches they refer to (Totally outdated end-of-lifed Cisco models). Just know your BCMSN Hucaby book cover-to-cover and you'll sail through. MM | |

| Again Thanks marathi,
I have also encountered lot of the question related with set based and ATM LANE kind of stuff and it was all out dated. But it is like worth giving a look at the format of the questions and I have done it all. I will soon review all the question from the book too. Anyway, It was better that I didnot spend money buying the outdated question from boson and I got it from other place.

| thanks very much for your replies !!!
I went on other forum last nigth, some people who already passed the exam told me, that there are no question about CAT OS, boson should upgrade his test !!!

| Don't worry you woudln't get any CatOS question anymore on any of the CCNP exams. Exception could be the Support exam where Cisco itself has to update their exam's question bank. Atlast some peace of mind....! | |

| Hi all,
Passed BCMSN today with good score. Thanks for everyone who have replied to the post to help. It was really a tough exam. I found it very tough. And more over the test center where I took the exam the program was running so slow that it make me confused on simulater questions. Anyway I got two simulator question one was on enable password on all modes and other was enable vlan in the switch access port. Bascially there was lots of question and i found theory was important. I have used boson and cisco press book and also the exam cram did help me. There are some stuff which was not on the cisco press book and came up on exam so to fulfill the gap i recommend to use some other text book or question bank will help out. I donot have experience on work, but studied much and take classes to pass this. Now is time to go for BSCI.
Again thanks for the help.

| I think boson tests are quite good, however you need to make sure that you have questions for the latest version of the exam. The latest exams are prefixed 642 not 640 - 640 is a previous version. | |

| I passed the switching exam today, I find that it was more easy than BSCI because a I have done I better score : 905/1000 .
they are few question on catalyst 2900 XL, many question on redundancy HSRp, VRRP IRDP ..., two simulation question (vtp + securing acces to switch).
My advices are :
- Read very well david hucaby switching book.
- When you have finished to read this book, make a search on emule about "Cisco.Press.CCNP.Self.Study.Certification.Library.Third.Edition." it's a practice test on the book of david hucaby. Most of the question come from the book, and they are also simulation question. make this test 2 or 3 times, it will permit you to review the entire book.
This book can be enough to achieve your preparation, but it doesn't cover some old question like "setting speed and duplex, or configure etherchannel on catalyst 2900 XL). I have encounter this kind of question during the real test, got some luck ...
So if you want to be totally ready, take boson test, it will permit you to review question that are not cover on david hucaby books. Some question ou the boson test are out of date, like set base command, don't waste your time on "set command" okkkk !!!
to resume :
- david hucaby switching book
- Cisco.Press.CCNP.Self.Study.Certification.Library.Third.Edition
- and boson test
don't use testking it's shit, they are many mistakes
good luck | |

| Hello zaza230 & all,
Congrats on your pass....
You mentioned that you had 2 SIMs...can you tell me more about the VTP SIM?
2. How many questions on IDRP, & QOS
3. How many questions u saw on Boson that was on the exam? 60% ??
4. Which Boson test # did you use? 1, 2, or 3 ?????
If you have a copy of it...may you share it?
Again Congrats...and thanks for everyones help

| Why don't you just ask him to take the exam for you too while you're at it? | |
| zaza230 2004-05-29, 2:36 am |
| hello phily 457,
the simulation question on VTP was : a new switch is going to be added in the network, configure this switch so that it revision number is reset, configure the vtp mode in client and protect the update by a password".
don't worry about the simulation question, they are not too much difficult, if you read well and carrefuly david hucaby bookyou will be able to answer.
I had 3 questions on IDRP, 3 question on HSRP ( Know HSRP state init,..... active )
Boson test is a bit out of date, subject like QOS, VOIP are not in the test. You can be sure that if you only use boson to train, you will fail. I have used boson 1 , 2 and 3.
you will find anything you want on emule.
good luck. | |
