Dear All,

when the show interface serial0/1 command is issued sometimes i get a value for the following statement

Total output drops: xxx

what does it exactly means?!!

The very basic meaning is that the interface gets so busy at times that it drops packets. If you read Cisco's info they will suggest playing with buffers, but I recommend figuring out why the interface gets so busy and correcting that issue first, as this is usually a symptom of another problem.
