What should I focus on for the BCMSN (842-811 Switching) simulation? The Cisco Press textbook has way too many possible candidates for the sim. Any advice mucho appreciated. MM

I only got two... settings passwords on the switch, and creating vlans. Worry more about the theory than the implementation.

Thanks. Those seem simple enough. Did you get asked a lot of commands? MM

No, like I said it was more on theory than implementation.. Know the differences between ISL and 802.1Q, understand EoMPLS, QOS, etc..

Thanks Necro! I passed the BCMSN today. It was just as you said - 2 simple simulations on trunking and passwords, and that was it - Theory all the way. They did ask a few commands though so I'd recommend that other examinees brush up on them (though not necessarily memorize them as I did). MM

Congrats on your pass! That was a pretty tough one.. lots of memorization. What are you working on next? I've done BCRAN and BCMSN, I'm working on BSCI right now.. how about yourself?

Thats cool. I'm doing the BCRAN myself, since I'm already done with the Routing exam. Hey Necro - Can you recommend the right textbook for BCRAN from the 2 Cisco Press books?

I took 640-605 right before it expired so I can't tell you much about the new exam. I'll get back to you on that one though after I take a look at the objectives to see what has changed. Any tips on BSCI? It looks like it will be the toughest one yet.

I used the "official" Cisco courseware from Knowledgenet - I found it good but not complete. Also did Boson test #1 - Tough but good.
