| All,
Please help. I am currently studying for my CCNP certification starting out with the BSCI exam. I am using the Cisco Press books for this.
My question is about route summarization. I know how to determine the summarized route when given a list of IP's /mask. What I do not understand is when given an IP/mask how to determine which routes are summarized benteh it. An example is below:
Given 172.19.100.0/22 How many class C addresses have been summarized?
A. 2
B. 4
C. 8
D. 16
The answer is B. But how do I calculate this?
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

| A class C network is /24. Your summary is /22.
2^(24 - 22) = 2^2 = 4. | |

| Thanks so much for the reply! I figured it was something simple, but could not find this in my books.
Much appreciated! |
