What I've heard from a lot of people is that Boson is not needed for the switching test. The BCMSN textbook from Cisco Press is all you need. Supposedly that holds true for the tests too - The test engine on the CD that goes with the textbook is supposed to have all you need. I'm just getting warmed up on the BCMSN stuff so I can't definitively say any of this, but I'm inclined to believe its all true.

Hey all, i passed switching a few days ago. I used Cisco press switching cert guide and Boson #3. I found the Both these resources to be very helpful and dont think i could of done it without using both. Good luck on to the Routing test.

Hey altoscano7,

Were there any simulations on the test? Or were there questions requiring you to type in commands?

Hey Clarkv, yes i had about 3 or 4 senarios and drag and drop type questions, they were tough. It wasnt overly hard on individual commands, but they make you do a few on one question. I did not know if you get partial credit or if part is wrong all is wrong. I knew i could get some of it right but not all of it, so i just went to the next question after i did all i knew. Good luck

I did the Boson test #3. Something I find here after two tests is that there are parts of the syllabus that are just not covered by Boson. QoS for example - Not a single question so far, nor anything on the securing with VLANs or IP telephony chapters from the Cisco Press book. I've bought test Boson BCMSN #1 to balance any areas I'm missing on by having done just test #3. MM

Passed BCMSN this morning. I used Boson #3, and it was completely a waste of money. I recommend just stick to the Hucaby textbook and you'll be fine.
