Switch access confusion???? Need help.

Hi guys, I have a technical question, if you can help:

I've bought a Cisco catalyst switch 2820 series, it has a DB9 ( male ) consol port, ( 9 pins ), so I had to buy and DB9 to Rj45 adapter, I've connected the console port to either the serial port ( COM1 or COM2 ), and I've opened the Hyper terminal from accessories menu, but I couldn't get to the switch CLI.????

The conection setting was as follow:
Bit per sec: 9600
Data bit: 8
Parity: None
Stop bits: 1 , and I did try 2.
Flow control: None, and I did try Hardware alo.

Please help if you can.
Is it possible that the switch does not have an OS????

Please guys I need an answer, to decide wether I keep it or to sell it.

Check here to make sure you're using the right cable/adapter combination.
