For the new exams (642-xxx) I don't think there are books out yet.
For the CCNP you need to pass 4 exams. I copied the link on this message but as it's too long it's giving "file not found" error message. Anyway the 4 courses:
642-801 BSCI (Routing)
642-811 BCMSN (Switching)
642-821 BCRAN (Remote Access)
642-831 CIT (Support)

When you are studying Cisco courses, you need to get familiar with the Cisco.com site because there is so much information available on the site, some of which you might even need to complement your courses. So make it a habit to go there often and look around.

This site has software you can download for free. Granted that it is old. But it can still be used to give a foundation. You can add Cisco website to complement your studies with it. Some of it is in Chinese. I would use a translator like www.altavista.com to change it from Chinese to English.

Enjoy!

The new Cisco Press books are due out in November - really great considering the new exams are already out. Grrrr.

You don't think there's enough documentation on Cisco's site without translating third party info from Chinese to English?

I'm preparing for the 642-801 exam by using the latest Cisco Press 640-901 book, for the lack of anything better. I compared the objectives of both exams and they seem to match so I think I should be OK. Any comments?
