| Hi,
Could anyone tell me if you need to know about Token Ring for the Switching exam 640-604. I'm about to take the exam (i booked it before Sept 7th) and i've noticed that while my course notes didn't mention token ring there are token ring questions on the Cisco Press Guide.
Thanks for any help. | |

| I don't remember any token ring material on my exam and if there was it was very basic. The book I used (Cisco Press Exam Guide) had quite a bit of info on token ring though, I might have gotten luck with the question pool. A friend of mine took the 604 two days after I did and we had very different tests. He said he he got a lot of 3500 series switch question and I didn't get any. I got several CatOS questions, and everything else from CGMP, VLANs, MLS and product placement. Overall I didn't think it was as hard as the 901 but very detailed in what it covered. I hope you do well and best of luck to you, I know your stress! BTW...I got the 605 on the 29th of Sept and I'm furiously trying to get through all the material and labs to make sure I'm ready!

| There were no token ring questions on my exam either. Good luck! I thought the exam was easier than the CCNA.

| On the 640- series BSCI exam one would still expect questions related to Token Ring as this topic have not officially been removed from the exam syllabus.
Reply to the wide spread version that someone gets TR questions and someone doesn't.....the answer is that the exam has got a questions pool of around 200. You get some 65-70 questions out of the pool....So three pretty much good chances that one wouldn't get the TR questions. | |

| I took the 640-604 and I did have 2 questions reguarding token ring. | |

| Thats bad news for me Dude!
I've noticed through my revision though that there are quite a few topics which are in the Cisco Press Switching Guide and not in the BCMSN Course Notes e.g. Cisco Press has a whole chapter on ATM Lane.
Whats made this worse is that as the exam has now been officially retired (although if you booked if before Sept 7th you can take it any time before October 18th) i can't find the Cisco summary which tells you what the exam covers.
This is all my own fault though for leaving this exam so late - i think i'll be the last person to ever pass/fail it!! I take it on the 18th Oct! |
