| I passed the support exam today and am now CCNP. Yaaaaaay! The test was not as tough as I expected, however, I see why it is best to take it as the last of the four exams. Many questions required knowledge from the other three areas. The CCNP Support book from Cisco press was very good .
Best of luck to all! | |

| Bravo Townsend, I'm really proud of you, Good Job!!!
About the Cisco Press book, did you use the Exam Certification Guide (Ranjbar) or the CIT (Chappell). It appears to me Ranjbar is better to prepare for the test however Chappell is better in the production environment because it provides very good detailed info.
So how long did it take you from the day you started studying for Routing till today when you got your CCNP.
What are you going to do next?
Anyway another proof that hard work always pays off no matter what.

| Congrats, Townsend! I just passed it today. I agree wholeheartedly that it was much easier than I expected it to be. I'd agree, too, that the Cisco Press book is great, except that the huge section that covered the layer 2 frame formats. At least for the 640-606 exam which had exacty zero questions that needed that information.
My advice to those taking the 640-606 is to skip or skim the whole section dedicated to exact frame formats. You'll avoid being overwhelmed by the information and wasting your time trying to memorize it. That time would be better spent reading the debug command sections a little better.

| Congrats to both of you and thanks for the info!!! | |

| Thanks all!
sukuvi,
You hit it right on the nose. The CIT (Chappell) book would probably be the one to keep on hand for reference, however, the CCNP Support Exam Certification Guide (Ranjbar)was by far the best book for focusing on material needed for this exam. I read it through 3 times and felt it thoroughly prepared me for the questions that were asked.
Next I plan to go for CCDA and CCDP. I am considering studying and taking the Windows XP test first to become more familiar with that operating system.
How about you sukuvi, what is in your future? You seem to be an outstanding researcher, alway helpful with good advice. I really appreciate your helpful attitude. I have noticed many places on this forum where you have offered very useful information.

| Thanks for the compliments, Townsend. After all, providing the help always sends me back to review a lot of things I haven't used for a while, this is why every time that I can, I devote some time to do the research, that way, while helping someone, I'm also helping myself. That's my philosophy.
Well, right now I'm trying to make up my mind about what to pursue with Cisco, either CCSP or CCDA and CCDP. Also I'd like to update my CNE and also update the MCP or go for MCSA (reason for this is having Cisco certifications without any Microsoft might hurt sooner or later). I just ordered the books I need for the CNE so once they are here I'll get on it and get it out of the way. Then I'll probably takle Microsoft. I guess by the time I'll be done with those, the new CCDA and CCDP course books might be available. That's the plan for now.
