I am needing to take my ccnp test before the end of the year but the new books are not coming out until the end of the year. So my question is this, If i read all of the books for the current test should this be close enough to the new material to still allow me to pass. I am assuming that the switching and the bcran will be very close but the bsci will probably be somewhat different due to the introduction of IS-IS.

I would tend to think that the routing test is not undergoing a major overhaul, partly due to there not being any significant changes in routing protocols for quite a while. I would bet that they will change some of the question formats (more simulations, perhaps) and refresh the question pools. The commands will probably be based on a more recent version of IOS than 12.0, but still probably won't change much. BTW, IS-IS is most definitely covered by the 640-901, but the questions are pretty easy.

Count on the BCRAN changing significantly. The most recent BCRAN thread I read indicated that the 642-821 includes some DSL, and VPN questions, but no X.25 or router model selection questions. I just took the BCRAN today (640-605). No DSL or VPN. I don't recall whether there was any X.25, but there were at least 5 (!) product selection questions out of 53 total questions.

Hopefully the BCMSN changes too since it has lots of product selection garbage as well. It also strongly emphasizes Cisco proprietary ISL VLANs over 802.1Q VLANs, and didn't even cover VRRP at all. It felt like a giant marketing pitch.

Can't comment on the CIT exam. Not taking it until next week.

Just Study the old BSCI book or course ware and print out the section on IS-IS from Cisco Press (free). That's all you need.

No need to buy new book as there is nothing much change on routing principle. They are all the same for years. eg. OSPF, EIGRP, BGP etc...

I am doing it exactly as lamchung suggested. I passed my switching exam using an older book, and I am getting ready to take routing, using the old book and the printed IS-IS chapter. Hopefully that will be enough. I also hope that the remote access and troubleshooting exams won't have changed all that much, although I think troubleshooting will be the easiest test. Not because it's necessarily easy, but because I feel very comfortable doing it. Anyway, I've rambled on quite enough. Good luck on your tests.

lamchung is correct....just use the old ccnp books. They are still good for the current exams. Get the free download from the ciscopress site for the old BSCI book.

Look for the word-wrap above.

thanks
