There can be a range of 2-8 ports participating in one port channel for Gigabit EtherChannel, but what about Fast EtherChannel? My book doesn't say the maximum number of participating ports.

Thanks in advance,

The max number of ports for EtherChannel actually depends on the type of Catalyst Switch Series. And if the series supports both Fast and Gigabit, the number of ports applies to both.

For e.g.
the 6000 series is 8 ports max for both Fast and Gigabit.
the 5000 series is 4 ports max for both Fast and Gigabit.
the 4000 series is 8 ports max for both Fast and Gigabit.
