| Anyone take the exam 640-841 (combined all 3 exams)? It must be very difficult? Comment?
So, if we take this exam and the CIT exam. That's for CCNP!!

| don't think anyone has.
there was a guy awhile back who took the OLD foundation. I believe he failed once and his comment after he pass on his 2nd attempt was that this is not worth it.
I would think they difficulties would only increase with the new foundation... the old exam wasn't hard.
The old foundation I believe was just a selection of the questions from the 3 individual exams, I don't imagine it to be any different in the new exam... but realistically who would really know it? you have to had takee the foundation and then the individual exams to make an accurate assessment of that.
The difficutlies would be largely artificial imo... you are require to pass 3 parts to pass, not 100 in 2 and 50 in one...
the benefit is just time off (which I assume most of us are able to get because who really count our hours and most of our boss would prolly be quite flexible in that.)
money save (only if you are confident in 1 pass)
disadvantage, stress, stress, stress, wide range of information which for most of us, we may be comfortable in one or 2 field, but all 3? I know my remote access was a joke... my bgp was a joke, rest is fine... so I rather take it so I can focus on my weaknesses.
ultimately, the study time is the same, 3 exams in 3 straight days during lunch break would be easier than 1 comprehensive exam in my opinion, especially since you can't utilize your strength in one field to compensate for your weaknesses.
and of course, I DID NOT take the foundation is so my assessment is basically full of crap and you just wasted a minute of so reading it! ;/

| I too remember a new member who posted a thread asking whether any member has taken the Foundation. I immedately replied that very very few people or even nobody on this forum have taken the exam so he shouldn't feel disappointed if he doesn't get replies. I also mentioned the reasons why I wouldn't take that exam, some of which Mikop talked about. I still told him if he feels that's the way he'd like to go, he should come back after taking it and give us a report so others who would like to go that route would have the info available.
Unfortunately we never heard from him again, and that's the worse part. |
