Author Is the CCNP Forum heading to extinction?

I wonder if other members have noticed how postings/replies on this forum have DRAMATICALLY dropped. For some weeks now, there are barely any postings, and even if there are any at all, they hardly get any replies. This forum used to be very very active but now each day that passes by, it's getting fewer and fewer postings and replies. Could the reason be that members who used to be active on this forum have gotten their CCNP and are now active on others related to the certification they are currently pursuing?

hello,

yes, probably. People move on with their studies and need to look at different forums. A lot of 'names' have gone since I started in here a couple of years ago.

But there have been times in those years when this forum went quiet and then picked up again.

It may be different this time as the IT recession takes hold and maybe not so many new people take to studying. A few years ago Cisco was seen as a quick way to a major salary and everybody and their dog wanted to get in. Things are a bit different now!

it likely has to do more with the types of posts. i suspect those that used to answer many posts prefer to respond to technical questions and not the same old "give me advice on this exam" type message.

I for one, have the version 1 certs, so I have no real clue what is on the newer exams and don't really care to respond to that type of post.

Just my thought...

whoa ..... a yankee sighting .......
the chief bottle washer's been missing a while too.
i guess if you want technical relevance you have to keep your eye on group study.

i have to re-take my written and hope
to attend cyscoexpert in the fall ....
hows your persuit going ?

Heya Darthee,

My written expired in January...my np/dp expire in November I think so I got a few tests to take this summer...oh joy.

I cancelled my lab dates a year ago with no attempts, deciding I wanted more experience
before cramming for the lab. That doesn't mean my reading stopped, I have just focused on a few subjects (that are work related) and hoped to understand them pretty darn well before moving on.

What are your plans?

For you guys I just checked the CCIE R&S lab dates availability all over the world ....really shocked to find almost all the dates are availabe and on some days all the 4 seats are avaialble to be booked...Exactly 1 year ago this was not the situation and the lab dates wouldn't be available atleast for a period of 2-3 months....sure indication of plunging recession?

More likely the backlog has cleared. I remember the long waiting lines, though many like me ended up cancelling...

Remember twice the numbers are going through now - Brussels has 12 seats a day and August is pretty much full - probably people trying to get through before the changes!!
