Before this switch was working fine . Then suddenly port 0/15 and 0/16 started showing orange lights . I had tried to reboot it but still orange light is there on these ports and network does,nt work on these ports . Other ports are working fine . Right now only 3 users are connected to this switch . Is it hardware problem of the ports ?

It certainly sounds like it, I assume you have checked the configs for them ports and nobody has "misconfigured" it?

You could always try a wr erase and see if this fix's it, but it sounds like you need to replace it.

Try plugging a different device in those ports. Something that you know works. And make sure to use the right cables. If those ports are amber, they are in blocking, listening, or learning stages. So at least it is trying to establish a connection.

You could also turn port-fast on for those two ports. Port-fast skips the listening and learning stages, and imediately transitions to forwarding. Her is the command:

Switch# configure terminal
Switch(config)# interface fa0/15
Switch(config-if)# spantree start-forwarding

Do the same thing for port 16.

There was no station connected to these ports ?

Type the following command and then post the output:

Switch# show spanning-tree
