Regarding OSPF

If Im setting ospf in a NBMA(frame-relay) network. If I use a point-to-multipoint configuration do I have to use the map ip commands.
The reason I ask is because the book that I am using to study for the CCnP doesn't require the map commands but when I check the Cisco website they do use the command with point-to-multipoint.
Maybe the configuration on their website is for older an older version of the IOS.

Can someone shed some light on this?
