| Hi,
I hold CCNA & CCDA and am seeking to get my CCNP sorted - by December 4th when my CCNA expires!
I have my exam vouchers and Cisco Cert library here beside me but I'm not too sure where to start!!!
Any tips on what areas are big ones to concentrate on, exam orders etc.?
It looks very difficult but I have been told by several people that if I can do CCDA I should have no problems........true?
Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks chaps. | |

| The knowledge-base you needed to pass the CCDA exam will help you a lot in your Professional level pursuits. There have been numerous people asking the question of where to start lately, probably due to Cisco's forthcoming exams.
But the answer is still the same - it depends. I recommend knocking out the ones where you're most comforatble first - whether routing (protocols), switching (LAN), remote access (WAN), or support (troubleshooting). Then you can take more time one those where you might be a little weaker.
I personally found Sybex's CCNP books very well written, and the practice exams they included were very helpful. Others prefer the Cisco Press books. Personal preference ruiles on that subject!
Also keep in mind there are new rules regarding the associate renewals - pass any professiional exam, and the associate expiration is renewed. More info can be found on Cisco's website.

| Thanks for the advice - particularly the info regarding the renewal; i was very worried about mine expiring in dec before me comleting ccnp.............
i think i'll go for the switching first - i have been installing 6500's all over for last 2 years so im OK with that. I think i will struggle on the remote access though......
cheers,
