| Hello,
I am about to start towards the CCNP track of certification with a home lab.
Will a catalyst 1200 (WS-C1201) be sufficient, or do I really need a 1900.
I already have (2) 2507, (1)2524 (1) PIX501
Thanks
Also, any other suggestions would be appreciated | |

| Unfortunately, the switching exam requires knowledge of set-based commands and IOS-based commands. Set-based are found on the 5000/6500 switches. I don't know about the IOS found on the 1200 but I highly doubt you really need to get equipment for these test. The tests are a joke. However, if you really like to get some hand's on experience, you can try to get a copy of the CCNP RouterSim. It has two 1900 switches trunked to a 5000 switch that's connected to a 2612 router. I really don't remember but I think it'll let you configure InterVLAN routing on the 5000 RSM. Router on a stick is a given. | |

| Thanks,
I ended up purchasing a WC-1924-A from ebay for $135. This will serve also as a backup to netgear switch already in production as well as a LAB switch.
I also have a version of RouterSIM from 2 years ago which I used while studing for CCNA.
Thanks Again | |

| I think that the G's models also have the Set command on the IOS which the same as the CAT IOS on the 6500.
somebody, correct me if am wrong!
but they are very expencive, so i end up buying the switch simulator which cover most of the exam objectives.
I hope this will help you!
bye!
And God bless you on your exam....... |
