| Yes, the 643 beta exams will give recertification for the current CCNAs. The following details are from Cisco certification online support pages.
Any of the exams that bear the 642 prefix will count towards recertification at the CCNA and CCDA level.
Currently there are seven beta exams that can be used to recertify both CCDA and CCNA certifications:

The new beta exams, listed below, will cover revised content that will be added to the latest versions of the certifications.
641-661 BGP Available January 21 - May 30, 2003
641-871 ARCH Available February 3 - May 30, 2003
643-641 QoS Available March 18 - April 25, 2003
643-821 BCRAN Available March 24 - May 16, 2003
643-811 BCMSN Available March 31 - May 30, 2003
643-831 CIT Available April 7 - May 23, 2003
643-801 BSCI Available April 17 - May 7, 2003
Beta exams enable Cisco to ensure quality exam development. Any individual who takes and passes a beta exam receives credit toward the appropriate certification. Candidates are not allowed to take beta exams for certifications they already hold.
How much: Beta exams cost $50 each (US dollars), a savings of more than 50% off the regular exam price.
Where: Any Pearson VUE or Prometric Testing Center worldwide
How: To register in the US or Canada call 1-800-829-NETS (option 2, 4) and ask for the beta exam by number and acronym. (You may also register on-line with Pearson VUE or Prometric.) Please have the following information ready at time of registration:
Legal name
Cisco ID: (example: CSCOXXXX) if you have taken a Cisco exam before
Cisco E-mail address
Company Name
Exam number
Beta exam results are not released until after the beta exam period has closed and all results are analyzed, approximately 8-12 weeks after the last day to test. | |

| so do you think it would be wise to order any book for the CCNP right now, or wait till the new material is out.
Particularly lookin to go for Sybex CCNP study kit by Odom et all.

| I think you have to wait for the new books to come. But if you need to try the beta exams, most of the current beta exams will not be conducted after May 30. Today is May 19. Is the time gap enough for you to buy a book and study? | |

Id wait a little, in my exam experience new books for new exams did not cover all you needed to know. | |

I will wait till they publish the new once.. i dont really hav time to study for it anyway...YET.
