| My CCNA expires in 1 Week. I can probably manage to take one CCNP exam by next week.
My question is would i still be able to take the rest 3 of the exams after my CCNA expires in a week?
Thanks | |

| Hi,
If you have started the CCNP process before the your old CCNA title expires, you are safe.
Take atleast one exam and pass before the CCNA exiration. This would show that you are well in the process of acquiring a CCNP title.

| From Cisco website somewhere,
You need to retake CCNA if you need to continue CCNP after your CCNA expiry date. Please refer to cisco certification FAQ page.

| What's the answer? If you are in progress with your CCNP and you go over your CCNA expiration date, do you loose your CCNA or not?
Anyone have a link to cisco on this?

| Unless you complete CCNP before the expiry date of the CCNA, your CCNA expires.
But, there are other exams you can take to keep your CCNA current, but none of the exam on the CCNP track renews your CCNA unless you complete all and become CCNP.
The above was the information I extracted from Cisco websites before the new exams were released.

| Limsam,
Kindly refer the following link. It says...
CCNA certifications are valid for three years. To recertify, pass the current certification exam or any new exam at the Professional or Cisco Qualified Specialist level exams that bears the prefix 642.

| Thanks Suresh. This is a new info. As I told, my info was before the new track CCNP track was announced.
How is your 2nd CCIE attempts? Are you doing the study?

| I dunno, my CCNA expired Oct of 2002. I had just finished the 2nd exam for the CCNP that same month. I spent the next 5 months studying for the last two tests and passed. When I tracked my certifications, it said I was now recertified for the CCNA on the same date that I became certified for the CCNP. None of the exams were 642 level, but 640 level exams. Maybe because I was halfway to completing my CCNP, or there is some grace period before you have to recertify, I was lucky.

| May be there was a grace period.
Whatever the fact, it is a good thing!

| What if you have only the 505 routing and you are still in progress? | |

| You can mix and match to get you CCNP, unless your exams are not very old, like 640-4XX series. |
