Hi all

I am planning to prepare for CCNP and gone through Cisco's web site. I am unable to decide as to what to version of CCNP to pursue! The old version(ie.640-xxx series) or the newly introduced (643-xxx Beta exams)

Even if i decide to take up the existing exams i would'nt be able to complete them by august7,2003. Since that is the deadline for anyone who wants to register for existing ccnp exams.

On the otherhand there is'nt much material on the new pattern of ccnp exams.

Could anyone tell me as to what to do?

It's really your choice.

The new material is "scheduled" to be made available mid-june. However, according to the exam objectives, you could start with the 640-6xx series material that's readily available, and fill-in the gaps with CCO info.

Or just wiat a couple of months and be the first on your block to own the latest Cisco exam books!

I just passed my BSCI exam in the regular actual format. My plan is to continue on this track and get as many of the 3 other exams before the deadline. Then get the exams I m missing using the new exams.

Does anyone know if I will be able to combine 1 new exam with 3 old exams?

Thanks/

I found this on Cisco Certifications online support:

Question:
Will I be able to mix and match exams for the CCNP certification?

Answer:
Yes, those who have passed earlier versions of the CCNP exams (such as 640-605 or 640-505) are able to apply those exams towards the CCNP certification requirements.
However exams such as ACRC 640-201, ACRC 640-403, CLSC 640-205, CLSC 640-404, CMTD 640-206, CMTD 640-405 and Foundation 640-409 will not carry over to the new CCNP program. If you have passed these exams and you intend to use towards the CCNP program, please complete all requirements on or before September 1, 2003 to obtain your CCNP certification.

How much I understand them you are able to mix "old" and "new" versions of exams, only that certifications you have for old exams can't be too old... (as ACRC, CLSC exams - if you look at cisco site you will find that that exams are already retired for some time).

Hope that we who passed/plan to pass 640-604, -605 -606 -901 are on the safe side...
