CCNP Recertification

| When recertifying for the CCNP via the 642-60X track, is there a study guide that hits the highlighted changes from the 50x to 60x series or do you have to basically read all the books for the new track? It seems to me like a big waste of time if you already have the CCNP to have to go slog through all that reading just to get recertified. I checked out Ciscos web sight on this matter and it was not much help. Appreciate your thoughts. Rigo.

| I haven't done it yet because mine expires in November but a guy at work did recently.
Assuming you took at least a year to do the CCNA and then the CCNP, plus the three years before the CCNP expires you should be a pretty experienced tech. Add on all the additional reading you should have been doing along the way either towards the CCIE or just to better yourself for your job and this recertification should not be a big deal. A brief review of subjects you don't use at work like IS-IS etc and you should be fine.
I made alot of assumptions in the above comment. If you didn't continue reading, didn't continue learning and didn't gain much experience, then by all means you should have slog thru all the books to maintain your certification.

| I agree. If you've been a CCNP for 3 years and gained experience during that time recerifing should be a piece of cake. Hell, I think all the time, I bet I could get 1000 on all those tests if I were to take them now. Look at it as an opportunity to prove to yourself how much you've learned.
I would recommend taking a look at what the test now covers and brushing up on any areas you feel a little shaky on.
One way not to have to recertify for another 3 years is to pass the CCIE Lab.
