| Hello,
I just registered. I will pass the bcmsn exam in a couple of weeks. I am very nervous since i don't have any hands on experience. I read the Cisco Press book and currently doing the Boson exams.
Does anyone have any tips on what parts of the exam i should focus on?
Is the test adaptive?
Thanks,

| I just passed the BCMSN today - two down, two to go!
There were 57 questions, 75 min, and you need a 767 to pass.
This was the first test where I left a comment: "which command will restrict telnet access?" The possible choices included both access-list and access-group. Obviously, you need both to block (one to define and one to apply), and I guessed access-list.
You can't use the access-group without an access-list, but the access-list by itself doesn't restrict, the fact that the access-group is APPLIED restricts.
Ok, enough venting!
I don't think it was adaptive, and I did not have a sim.
I had very few "which command would you use" questions, but rather mostly had "choose 2" and "choose 3" features or functions of the various switching components (mls requires X, y, and z to work, etc).
Know the models you'd use for small, medium, and large campuses, as well as the Set vs IOS models.
I used the Sybex book, and its practice CD, but the Cisco Press book also looked pretty good. I just chose Sybex because of the CD.
I hope this helps!

| Yep - sim = virtual device configuration, Flash-animation window to "prove" you know what you're talking about. | |
|
| was there a subject that they asked a lot more questions on ? | |

| I didn't really notice.
I was really prepared for questions on the actual configuration, and when the exam was over, I realized they never came.
If I had to make an educated guess, MLS configuration rules, spanning tree, only one figure out the MAC address for a multicast group, a couple on Multicast (PIM, RP, etc), and a couple VTP.
