Try as I might I cannot locate the is-is material on the Cisco site. Since I am scheduled to take the routing test next week I need some help. The links posted earlier didn't work .... Thanks

Ciscogirl,

Good luck on your exam. After you are done, please let us know if IS-IS is a major topic on the new exam, or if it is only a few questions. I have a few routing exam books, but none are the new version and I have been wondering if they will be sufficient to pass the exam successfully.
Thanks!

When I took the exam there were only 5 or 6 questions I had on IS-IS and they were covered with Transcender and other preparation materials. Don't concentrate too much on IS-IS. There were a lot of OSPF questions though and IGRP/EIGRP.

After taking the exam,i would disagree with that. Make sure you know is-is as well as the others.

I second Carl's point of view. This past Saturday, I had at about 10-12 IS-IS questions, including one making sure you knew it's a link-state, not distance vector.

The above CiscoPress addendum is pretty good. If you can answer the written questions included within the document, you'll probably do ok.

Remember, Cisco IS-IS doesn't support level 3 routing (domain-domain)!

Good luck!

The test I took was just before Christmas so it might have been a little different. I remember only having a few questions on the test though. It is probably due to the new book that came out, requiring you to know a little more about the IS-IS protocol.

The best book for the new BSCI 640-901 exam is the ciscopress one by Catherine Paquet & Deane Teare. Make best use of the the new addendum on IS-IS which is available free for download at ciscopress.com site as someone mentioned above.
