| I just picked up a couple 2502 Routers and was wondering how far would this take me in my quest to be a CCNP. I'm going to pick up a 1900 Switch later on this month, are the 4000 Series still used, what else Cisco equipment do I need to have a fully functioning CCNP lab | |

| The old version of the cisco material used a good amount of routers.
BSCI required atleast 3 2600 perf 2621s. and a few 2950 switches
bscmsn required a 4006 with a supervisor switch or RSM. And 2950 switches.
The new version requires 3600 routers.
You will have to do BGP, IS-IS, EIGRP, IGRP, OSPF, RIPv2, RIP, and others on the routers. In the BCSMN you will need to do multicasting, vlans, stp, etc. I am not sure if the 2500 will support all these requirements. You may have to buy a ton of ram and upgrade the IOS image.
